My Hunting Page:
Coonhunting with hounds is my favorite way to hunt.
I started coonhunting approximately 15 years ago. The first time I went hunting, I knew the was the one for me. I have had a number of hounds ranging from treeing walkers to my current hound which is a redbone. I am very pleased with the way she hunts, and she seems to know what I want to do. Also, for some good reading, go to the this website, just type in huntseek.com. It has an excellent forum with about every type of outdoor sports you can imagine. Try it, you'll like it.

Coon season is coming up soon!
Coon season is quickly coming up, and even though it's still hot outside, we need to start thinking about getting those old hounds ready. I know I need to get my dog out and run her a few times before season. Seems like she does a lot better when she has had her run around time before season. Just sure hate walking through all those corn fields during this time of the year.
Wanted-Places in Nebraska to coon hunt.
If you read this, and you have a place that has a few coon. I would really appreciate a chance to hunt your ground. I walk everywhere to the dog, and I will always treat your ground as though it's my own. I'll even travel a ways to hunt. If you'd like to get rid of a few coons, please feel free to contact me at 402-427-7111 or email me at donis@fishing.com Thanks, Don M

Laws and running hounds.
If you run hounds, and even have a large dog, then you might just want to pat attention here. Many states are trying to pass legislation on making you have your dogs muzzled when ever it is outside of your property. Now, that might keep a dog from biting someone, but it will also eliminate any chance of hunting about any breed of dog. The antihunting groups are really backing this, because they know what this will do to hunting.

Calling coons!
I've been hearing about people using predator calling tapes and calling coons in with them. It has caught my interest. Anyone who has done this or heard a little about it, please feel free to drop me a line and tell me a little about it. I have a number of small areas in which I can't turn a dog loose, but the coons are really thick. This may be a good way to bring them in.

A good looking walker dog doing what he does best.

Same breed dog that I run, a Redbone, same as the dogs that were in the book "Where the Redfern Grows".
